    Help me replace my Poprad!

    Hi,

I'm looking to replace my 59cm 2004 Poprad after the frame broke. That bike fit me perfectly. I have test rode a number of bikes (Trek 520, Surly Trucker, Surly CrossCheck, ...) none of which fit me like the poprad. The CrossCheck came closest, but I felt too far over the front tire with them all (the TT distance was too small?). Can anyone recommend a bike (preferably steel) with a similar geometry that I should try out. It will be used for commuting/recreational riding. I was thinking about trying a Masi CX next.

    Thanks in advance.

Salsa Vaya? Kona Jake (aluminum)? Kona Rove?

I think you just need to try more bikes, and maybe a larger size.

59cm 2004 Poprad .... That bike fit me perfectly.
take down that data on the geometry, Top Tube, seat tube, saddle setback.
... from plumb-line thru the BB, stem length,
cockpit, ahead of that central line, etc ,

you are matching the fit then and can judge what components
may need be changed to get that fit, again,
on another out of the box build , no matter what brand it is.

Another Poprad? I see a 59 cm Poprad frame on eBay now. The listing includes the geometry.

How/where did the frame break occur? Since it is steel, you might consider having the frame repaired.

Which Cross Check did you try?

The 2004 LeMond geometry can be found here: http://vintage-trek.com/Trek-Fisher-...nualLemond.pdf

It looks like the 59cm Poprad is about halfway between the 58cm Cross Check and the 60cm Cross Check. I would expect that with a stem change you could make either of those work. The Cross Check is notorious for having a short head tube relative to other CX bikes, and it looks like the 2004 Poprad shares this characteristic. Consequently, I think you'll find that most other CX bikes are going to fit differently.
