It is sort of top heavy, and a bit sluggish on the road. I do think that a lighter wheelset and some 27/28c tires would make a world of difference. I have taken it on a couple of road rides and was able to hang in for a bit. The 5800 shifts very nicely and the brakes work great.

Here is my CruX Elite Evo in all it's stock glory, after assembly at the LBS before I took delivery. I'll get some better pics soon. I also have a set of Stan's Grails with 2Bliss Trigger tires and am using the stock wheels with road tires, so far it has fit the bill for what I wanted.

Another photo of my Space Horse from yesterday's (4/18/2015) 91.8-mile mixed pavement and gravel ride. I really love this bike - I have about 1,200 miles on it now. It is a lot of fun to do mixed gravel/pavement and sometimes singletrack rides where I leave from my house. I drop the tire pressure from 85 to about 60 when I hit a long stretch of gravel, and then use the frame pump to take it back up to 85 psi when I have another long stretch of pavement. Being able to hop from one road surface to another really opens the possibilities for riding.
I also recently bought the Minoura seat-mounted double water bottle carrier, which really opened up every more places I can ride. This is a rural area around here, and yesterday's ride had zero services until mile 62, so it was nice to carry enough water for that length of ride, rather than planning my rides around water stops like I used to.

Thanks! I've been having so much fun adventure riding that my road bike hangs on the wall most of the time now. I only really use it for group rides and short 20-mile weekday recovery rides. My CAAD may be faster, but the Space Horse takes me to far more interesting places.

New 2015 Fuji Tread 1.5
This is my new 2015 Fuji Tread 1.5, 54cm. I'm really looking forward to a very adventurous cycling season. I've always had traditional road bikes from a Specialized Allez, Specialized Roubaix and a Cannondale Supersix. So this is going to be different and a lot of fun!

I like it just fine. I do not really ride cross with it, I use it for my foul weather road bike. The only thing I do not like is how fussy the brakes are....in keeping them quiet... you have to have the toe-in just right and the rims clean or they squeal like crazy. That noise does come in handy when riding the MUTs in the area.... on crowded days the squeal of the brakes works better than "on your left" when coming up behind walkers/joggers..they instinctively move out of the way.

This one: Amazon.com : Avenir Excursion QR Handlebar Bag (484 cubic inches of storage) : Bike Pack Accessories : Sports & Outdoors
Pretty nice little bag for the price. Has room for lots of food, along with a camera, rain jacket, etc. Also has a quick-release.

Replaced the Tiagra brifters with Gevenalle (Retroshift) CXVs and replaced the cantis with Shimano Deore V-Brakes. Gearing up for DK100.

Here is my freshly finished hybrid to gravel. I had a Raleigh hybrid given to me and I'd wanted to make a cyclocross or fast gravel rider. All was done on the way cheap with parts coming from th epochal Bike Projects or my garages parts bin.

Just a NOOB question... I have never heard this term "gravel grinder" before... A lot of the bikes on here appear to be lightly modified road bikes, or hardtail MTB...
It almost seems if I throw a set of drop-bars on my Seeker, that I could call it a gravel grinder.
TBH. Most of the riding I do on my bike is maintained trails. (gravel, sand, pavement, etc) From what little I read about the subject, my bike would be a near perfect match.
I don't have a current photo... this was taken the day my bike was delivered (after assembly, before set-up).
Airborne Seeker 29er with a 22" frame. SRAM x5 on a 2x10 chainset.
I have since added a more comfortable saddle, rear rack (seatpost mount due to lack of mounting bungs on the frame).
I am planning on getting a good hybrid tire. Perhaps the Bontrager Cx0... The GEAX AKA that came with the bike are nice, but have an annoying hum on pavement...
Does this qualify?
