Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

So where are you riding?? The forum is quiet

There is a lot of talks about bikes but not a lot about riding! I took off this week bc my kids are on spring break. I am fortunate to have a place on Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas. It's been in my family since I was a kid. It's on a dirt road and I have access to unlimited logging roads, gravel roads, and scenic paved roads. I've been putting in a lot of miles and really enjoying my cross bike. It's been perfect.

Here are a few pics of the week so far. I've got some cool videos of my bike going through creeks and mud holes that I'll upload later. Can't wait to hit the bike again today. So let's hear about your rides. Where are you guys riding? What type of terrain?

I, unfortunately, haven't ridden yet this year. Had plenty of steady snow and ice here this winter. Now I'm waiting for the city/county to street sweep the sand and smooth pea gravel they spread on most of the roads. Also had just about the worse case of flu in my life (which ultimately left me with a moderate ear infection). Meanwhile, my single-speed "cross" bike build is ready and waiting to do some Snake River trail rides (dirt, gravel, and pavement).

Good to see/hear that you and bbarnett51 are out having a great time. Thanks for posting!

My town has a fairly good network of paved trails. In a few spots are here & there are some woods with a few miles of trails through I'll take my kids on. Today was the first time we'd been in it this year. Had to find another route... a tree fell into the river and took a good chunk of the trail with it.

I did the Gran Fondo Ephrata a couple weeks ago: Gran Fondo Ephrata | Vicious Cycle Eighty miles of remote WA state pedaling, about 30 on gravel. My first gravel road ride, got lucky with the weather (sunny and hit the low 60s), made some new friends and had a heck of a workout!

This is a really fun single track that winds through the woods and then down into the river valley with mud holes, creeks, hills, rocks, and then across a grass field and back into the same type stuff. Its become my favorite place to ride as I can make it as hard or as easy as I want. It also shoot out by a country HWY that I can do some longer road rides on to work on my century training.
