KHS CX-200 Frame Sizing Question

I have an opportunity to own a leftover CX-200, frame size small, no medium available.

I test rode the small size frame. It seemed to fit well. But I have been testing so many bikes lately it's hard to tell?

I really liked the bike and the price is right, I just do not want to own something I can't ride. I have read that on these bikes many go to a smaller frame size. Then again I heard that was to reduce the weight when carrying the bike.

It was the only drop bar bike I tested.

This will be used for recreational riding not racing. But it will see is't fair share of dirt roads and trails.

I am 5' 6.5"" with a 28"-29" inseam. 54 Years old and a Clyde,

What do you think?

My brother-in-law just bought this same size bike (2010 model). He's like 5'3" and it fits him well, though he thought it was the littlest bit large at first...not sure if that helps?

Yes, it definitely helps,

I rode the bike and it felt ok. But it was just a short burst around town.

I actually took it out in work boots. Having never ridden any bike with out toe cages I was somewhat surprised when my right foot contacted the front tire during a left turn. Work boot coming in contact with a semi knobbie tire gets your attention.

Not being able to physically try a medium leaves me guessing a bit. I may go back and give it another try. But barring the foot contact the rest felt good.

The seat has plenty of room to go up. The reach to the bars seemed fine. Stand over was around three inches of clearance. I don't want to over analyze this, but I don't want a bike bike that I regret buying either.

Toe overlap is not uncommon on modern bikes, and with cx bikes you often make tighter turns...wouldn't notice when riding pavement. At least this has been my experience. I don't think a Medium would solve this.

Looks great

With 40-50 psi you can get really explore...gravel, dirt and anything else you feel like riding...very versatile.
