Giant fastroad comax 1

Good day everyone! I am new to cycling and i am planning to buy a giant fastroad comax 1 but i want to use it as my daily ride to work on road but hopefully i can use it also as a cross so im planning to to put thicker tires so that i can use it off road but not hardcore off road just out of country unpaved roads during weekends.Has anyone done that? Road bike thicker tires?
Maybe someone will suggest me to just buy the giant anyroad which is a cyclocross but i am not a fan of drop bars and its easy for me to replace the tires if i get the giant fastroad comax

I like it! I too, am not a fan of drop bars. The spec'ced tires are 25 C but it looks there's room for up to 35 C tires.

If I was you, I'd ditch the flat bars for cruiser bars. They just look cool on a flat bar bike! And I want a comfortable riding position.

Sweet looking all-round bike! Not your grandpappy's CX bike for sure.

Anyone has the fastroad comax yet and can share some of your thoughts and experience with it?

You might need some more patience, we haven't seen any comax bikes roll through yet in our region, and I know we are waiting on a couple. That said, it is based on the aluminum escape which is hugely popular for a reason. Should be a nice bike if the price is right for you.

I'm looking at the Women's LIV version in CoMax1 for my wife, but my local dealer still trying to figure out when they can get one. Looks like a good value for the level of components.

It looks like an Anyroad in CF. Which means it must be a nice bike.

Well my dealer relayed that the Giant Rep said the Women's Liv Thrive CoMax 1 would not be shipping until the beginning of 2015. Bummer, I had cash in hand and my wife really loved the Liv. On to plan B, she needs a bike now.

Well, today, October 6th, I stopped by the local pro shop, had them look it up again, and confirmed the Fastroad Comax 1 is not yet available in the USA. I'm in Illinois.

Isn't it kind of strange that 3 newbies all posted to this thread? That and all 3 had 1 post each.

No I don't think it's strange. Everybody on this board starts with one post, including you. Thousands of members on this site, there are bound to be newbies, on a redefined category of bike, that manufactures have just caught on to. Two posted in July one yesterday on a bike they all want to see but isn't available.

I tend not to worry about post counts but the information that is being presented.

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago along with a friend at work. ETA is mid March. Upgrading from cannondale bad boy 1. The LBS Has a fastroad comax 2 hanging from the ceiling on display.

Pretty excited.

It is a very sweet bike. The geometry is tailor made for city riding. It has a short wheelbase and the sloping top tube feels right for those who are borderline touching when hopping off. I have the aluminum version and put on 28mm Gatorskins and it can handle 35mm tires easy. You might not nee the carbon version with wider tires since the tires would soak up the bumps so much.

My LBS told me that the Liv Thrive Comax1 is now delayed until June. Said it was delayed because Giant cannot source the 105 11-speed shifters from Shimano. Frustrating.

So this is a good news/bad news follow up. My LBS heard from giant on my order and due to labor problems giant is having in China at the frame factory, giant couldn't guarantee I'd get a bike this calendar year. Maybe a tad hyperbolic but I ordered a large and the demand on this setup is huge.

so that's the bad news.

The good news is my LBS offered me a giant defy advanced 2 for the same price I paid for the fastroad comax. Quite an upgrade on the frame. I was trying to avoid drop downs - aesthetically I just never cared for them. But I can say I'm hooked now. Upgrading from a cannondale bad boy this defy frame is a delight up around 20mph. The bad boy would be around 15mph exerting the same effort. And the setup on the defy isn't very aggressive- so it turns out it's quite comfortable -- moreso on the same rides I would do with the bad boy.

this is my first carbon bike and I must say I understand all the hype now.

I ordered my FastRoad CoMax1 in December and it arrived mid-February. After the order was placed, my lbs owner was told by Giant that once the January ship date was completed, that was it for the 2015 FastRoad CoMax1's. Yes, mine was also a large.

You are lucky that you are happy with the Defy, it will be a great bike, but i already have four carbon drop bar bikes.

My FastRoad is still at the bike shop as I had knee surgery and then more surgery for a blood clot and both are taking forever to heal.

A Sad update to our tale of waiting for the Liv Thrive Comax 1 in Medium for my wife.
The June 7 ship date has been pushed back to the end of June t the earliest.. and I am not holding my breath.

I have tried to source this bike all over the US and finding it is impossible. They are nowhere in the distribution channel for the USA.
I found it in a Canadian shop that was entertain the thought of shipping to the US but dragged my feet, so that one is gone too.
This has been frustrating as hell, and it boggles my mind that the largest manufacturer in the world cannot produce and ship a bike they have been advertising since last summer.

Giant is short on carbon fiber this year so 2015 CF bikes were in short supply. The good news is 2016 models are supposed to arrive early and additional CF manufacturing has been added.

Finally got my Comax 1 home and it rides wonderfully. A real road bike with flat bars. Cassette has been switched out to a 12-25.

For others wondering about bigger tires on a Fastroad, I mounted 38c cyclocross tires on my 15 SLR no problem. The right chainstay is the limiting factor and doubt any bigger tire would fit.

Why do not use good Giant tyres P-SLX2 Tire 700x32 FB (Tires) - Bike Gear | Giant Bicycles | United States ? Take 32 if you weight under 90 kg and 35 if you above 90 kg. Giant Anyroad Comax uses these tires also.
