Another ride and some dirt and Tarmac, nothing fell off and the new bottle cage mounts stayed on
The Planet X bar and stem put the levers in a better position, time for some miles.
wheel re-build on the cards, but the bike is basically done.

not too much, I don't think there are many in South Leicestershire!
I do use the canal tow paths a lot though, hope no dogs decide it's a fast moving stick to chase!

Changes to the bamboo bike
Digging up my old build thread.
I have made a few changes to the bike, compressionless cable, new wider/longer bamboo fenders.
Done a couple of thousand miles on it now.
My winter update is a bit more hi-Tech though, been getting parts together for hydraulic brakes and Di2...

Stripped apart the brand new lever and climbing switch, cut the hood and mashed it all together with the TRP Di2 adapter kit.

Honestly, for a ready to ride disc brake bike with big tires and a saddle bag...that's still pretty light. Doubt it's more than a few pounds over what most nice store bought gravel bikes weigh.

After finishing (temporarily) the install I took the bike to work today.
Loving the Di2, think I will swap the up/down with the interface & laptops when I plug it in and figure out how to.
The biggest difference is the Hylex... freaking awesome!
So light but solid feeling and repeatable when wet/mud hit them.
Being a long time Shimano brifter user, I didn’t realise how nice a road brake lever with only one plane of movement feels!

There’s a 70’s Honda twin under the sheet, that’d Be much better for starting a fire, the carb spits fuel back through the filter all the time

Nice build, thanks for sharing!
I follow Bamboo Bicycle Club on instagram, nice to see a little more in-depth example of what they do. A bamboo bike is on my "someday when I've checked off a lot of other boxes" list.
How's the ride quality? Supple like steel or something different?

The ride is more compliant and damps the buzz more than the Planet X Kaffenback that it replaced. It’s a bit heavier, so that will be part of it.

Enjoyed a chilly ride in the smattering of snow this morning, prefer the buttons on the switch swapped which I did last night in the Etube software.
