Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

the rite bike???

Looking at the Raleigh RX 2.0 I'm looking at allot of dirt road riding, some pavement, some light trail riding. Looking for the perfect bike. I thought I could put a higher stem and some wider bars on the RX. Anyone have any other thoughts. I do want to put some racks on bike. We plan on doing the Allegheny pass next spring. Just thought this might be a good choice. I have a pugsly for the real mountain biking.

I have the Raleigh Tamland 1.0 and use it basically the way you are planning on riding. It is my one do everything bike. It has a full steel frame and fork, and is a bit on the heavy side, but the extra weight would probably lend itself well for some light touring. It also has a compact crank and a 30 rear cog, which would also be helpful for light touring. If you are interested, I would be happy to go into more detail, but you get full 105, TRP Spyre discs, and a great riding frame for about 1600 US. One more thing that might be nice about it for touring is that it has more relaxed geometry than a typical cross bike, and has a higher BB, so it would be a little more stable with weight for most riders.
