    Aluminium Rove?! 899.00... it's amazing...

    what marketing d**ch*b*gs will attempt.

So for 2015 Kona introduces the all new Rove AL. Why can't they suck it up like a man, admit they
shot themselves in the foot, and just re-issue the Dewdrop which is what this bamboozle actually is.

While at it they might consider releasing a genuine entry level Rove with an actual cromoly frameset
that can be had for under a grand.

It's the Cardiff Giant all over again.

Hmmm. Looks nice. Good price. Good for them on making it out of aluminum, too - at that price point, it'll save some weight. No rust, too. Not sure what the Dewdrop is or why I should care. Oooh, this thing even has mid fork eyelets! Looks like a great bike for 900 bucks.

Agree on all points. Steel is fine, but I'll take aluminum over steel at the price point every time. At all price points, come to think of it.

For $900 I'd ride the crap out of that thing.

My ire is that this bike existed five years ago as part of the Dew series and Kona discontinued the model for some crazy reason. The Rove AL is virtually identical to the Dewdrop but in order to capitalize on the interest in the current steel Rove series they slap a decal on a different model and pass it off as the entry
    level bike.

I don't have issue with the bike itself, It's sweety, but feel that cromoly frames are being touted as the new premium frame material and artificially inflated in value. I personally prefer steel and still ride my 95 Kilauea and would love an affordable do it all like the Rove, Vaya, Tamland....

I suppose the Rove Al geometry is somewhat similar to the Dew Drop geometry, but it's also fairly similar to the Rove geometry. The top tube on the Rove Al doesn't seem to have as much slope as the Dew Drop did and it has a longer fork. Plus, either they chose a better size of the pictures or the Rove Al is not nearly as ugly as the Dew Drop was.

You do have a point about the price of steel bikes but if my understanding of economics is correct the biggest thing you can do to help change that is to start wanting an aluminum bike. Being unwilling to pay more for steel is a close second though.

SRAM Apex vs. Shimano Claris figures in there somewhere too. I don't suppose that's an $800 difference, but it's not as far from it as a reasonable person might think.
