boardman hybrid comp conversion
Hello all,
i currently work for halfords in the bikehut dept, and i have the boardman hybrid comp, (great bike) but im wanting to convert it to a cyclocross bike,
my question is, how straight forward it is? i spoke to the mechanic and he said due to having sram x5 9 speed on rear id have to change the rear mech and get the same shifters due to the sram ratio so i purchased Campagnolo Xenon 9 speed STI Shifters and Campagnolo Xenon 9 speed rear mech
now i also bought drop bars, tape, and fresh cables (gear and brake) he also told me that it will be fine regarding the brakes because they are mechanical and not hydraulic,
heres the specs https://www.boardmanbikes.com/hybrid/hybrid_comp.html
would this be fine?
just wanting some input so i know im on the right path
mike
(p.s - im aware ill have to fine tune the gearing, its expected)

I just did the same to my hybrid, although I didn't have disc brakes, other than possibly needing a shorter stem you should be good to go.

I did it on a crappy early-90's Diamondback and it was probably a lot trickier than what you'll do on this bike. Bars, levers, tape, probably new cables/housings (the flat bar setup's cables will likely be too short) and a tire swap. Done.
Second on the shorter stem. I have a medium/18" frame and I need an 80mm stem to make it fit right.
