Are there alternatives to the Grand Boise Hetre that should be considered?

Thinking about getting some (700c).
After reading a few more issues of 'Bicycle Quarterly' (gift subscription) & I'll be riding a custom steel touring bike with those & fenders to boot!

I've used the Cypress and the rebranded Barlow Pass tires for gravel and they worked great. I only used 32's and in 700c but should be the same result in 650. Very fast on the street and extremely comfortable. Did surprisingly well on gravel and dirt.

Yep! I've used the Babyshoe Pass 650bX42's since late spring, and have about 2K miles on them now. Probably 70% urban pavement and 30% gravel/rail trail/dirt roads. I run them at around 40 on gravel. Very comfy tires, not a single flat, and low rolling resistance.
My rear tire is starting to show some wear, but I'll probably get another 2K miles out of it easily.
