Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Show off your flatbar gravel grinder/cross bike

I'm almost done building mine.... Anyone else have a flatbar gravel grinder/cross bike?

Here are the photos of my Litespeed T5G.

Can't wait to see your Litespeed. Here's my Crux. Not a great picture but the only one I have. It's a 1x10, 44tx(12-36). Only changes so far are the bash guard and the chain ring itself. Had to go to a Raceface narrow-wide so the chain would quit jumping off. So far so good.

I am thinking of building something like this on either a Gunnar or Soma DC frame this winter. I want something more upright for riding with the family but none of the current hybrids excite me.

Your Crux looks great Rico! I actually had a Crux Pro Carbon Disc that I sold to help pay for the Litespeed. I have attached a few photos of it to the original post.

Here's my 1991 Specialized team stumpjumper with trekking bars. I built it as a gravel grinder:

I have posted this before. It is a Masi Speciale Commuter repainted and built up as a gravel adventure bike. I have tried many iterations of this bike from commuter friendly single speed,to a multi speed 650b conversion. I really miss the single speed so I may tear it down today and turn it back into a single speed and go back to the 650b conversion.

Thanks - I've always wanted a Litespeed since they first came out. Yours is outstanding! I'm currently looking for a Litespeed mtn bike frame to set up with the drop bars from the Crux. What's the my world coming to - a cross with flat bars and a mountain bike with drop bars. I blame my madness on this fine web site!

My 2003 Raleigh M40 mtb was my gravel grinder when I rode my local rail trail. The 11 mile trail was 90% gravel. I have since made switch to CX bike as I want go faster.

I guess mine counts; nothing special ... 2010 Spec Sirrus Comp bought new in '10: as pictured what's left are the frame/fork, seatpost/stem/bars. Everything else has been replaced (inc. headset): Apex/Rival drivetrain (w/double-tap flatbar), 48/34 and 12/32; TRP CX9 brakes w/Avid SD7 levers; Giant PSL1 wheels/Pasela 32s; Spec Avatar; Ergons; XT pedals. Been set up like this since Spring '11. Why? I like it; it (the frame) fits; it does what I want. The only thing I don't like: tire clearance is limited to 33 'cross tires (might squeeze a 35 slick in there, but what's the point?); not a deal breaker though.

It's set up for the riding I do/have always done: a mix of on and off-road -- the latter anything from dirt/gravel roads to non-technical singletrack. I tend to 'get off the pavement' at any opportunity.

Lots of nice shiny bikes!

Here's my latest build. Put a flat bar on this Gitane XO cyclocross frame to make it an errand/bar bike. If I like it there may be a full refurb in the cards.

Thanks!
No predrilled fork, no water bottle mounts, no brazeons, no DT shifter mounts, top cable routing, and tight racing geometry... ugh, so hard to ride these things.

I don't have a right brake lever (only had one in my parts bin) but one is on the way so I'll have it rolling very soon. Seriously thinking single chainring is the way to go with one thumb shifter for the RD as opposed to the trigger shifters I had laying around.
