It's January. How long are your long training rides at this point?

Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

It's January. How long are your long training rides at this point?

I'm training for my first 200-mile race, so I'm flying "blind" as far as the quality of my training is concerned. Icy roads have me sitting indoors instead of enjoying a training ride right now, so I'm curious.

For those of you who have done 200+ mile races (or are planning to), what's your progression of weekly "long rides" look like? How long are your long rides at this point in the season? And how long will your longest training rides be and when will they fall, compared to your "A" race? What have you done in the past that worked and . . . that didn't work?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this. I don't know that anyone has written a book on training for the 200- and 300-mile gravel races.

As long as time and weather allow. Strava tells me I've been averaging 170 miles/week. I hate the trainer with a passion so I decided this winter I would bike outside as much as I can regardless of weather. So far I've only used the trainer once. I try to get in long rides on the weekend, both Saturday & Sunday. Sometimes family obligations prevent that but I was able to get back to back 60 mile rides in this weekend.

I don't have a specific plan for the DK other than Ride Lots.

But I'm not a racer so this may not be very helpful.

I just started riding again in January. I been riding an hour a day outdoors at night after work. After about an hour the bottom of my feet start getting really cold, even with thick booties. I ride anywhere from 5 -16 miles depending on how much energy I have left haha.
