    Trek Fuel size questions

the LBS has a trek fuel ex5 that I like. I'm 5"7 inseam 29" . Is a 15.5 fuel too small for me? I don't know much about bikes so not sure what to look for when I test ride.

Same personal geometry as you and would definitely check out the 15.5". Especially if it's the newer 29r model.

Look for enough standover height when you are off the bike. See if you clear the top tube to crotch by at least an inch, if not more, when straddling the bike. Now imagine that you are offroad, not an even surface, and are reaching down even further with your legs to reach the ground...

Take it for a test ride and really get a feel for the reach to the bars. You want a semi-aggressive, leaned-over position -- I find that on 29r bikes which I fit vertically, the reach to the bars is generally too short. If that's the case, and you really like it otherwise, see if the shop will do a free swap for a take-off 100-110mm stem, which they should have plenty of and specifically be happy to swap out for the shorter stem which comes stock on the EX.

If the EX you are looking at is a 26 or 27.5 wheel model, check out the next bigger size -- might fit perfect stock, better than the 29r.
I know next to nothing. I am frequently wrong.
