Yesterday in wonderful Boardman Ohio the temperature topped out at 92 degrees, with a get sticky 85% humidity.

At about 1:30 the wife called to tell me my Nashbar order came in , so the rest of my work day was pretty much shot. I got home, and everyone was right about the Nashbar Rodeo Pedals. I did have to grind off the front tabs of the pedals so the clips would engage . The pedals are a great idea, but a crummy design I think they are made more for road shoes, and not shoes with traction.

So if anyone gets the Nashbar Rodeo Pedals, be prepared to modify them before you put them on the bike. But for 20 bucks they are still a good pedal, and once I spent the time to grind off the three tabs on the front they worked great.

I did get a 7 mile ride in and clipping out was easier than clipping in . I have to learn where the clip is on the shoes and where the clip is on the pedals.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of getting some of these to use w/ my hybrid along w/ Cannondale Roam shoes(look like running shoes). Once you ground off the tabs they worked fine? I noticed there are some other platform/spd pedals that have a spd part that pops up. However they are considerably more expensive. Do you think it's worth it?

I should have my rodeo's arriving today. Putting them on my mountain bike for the time being, though they may eventually move over to the road bike depending on if I get a deal on some road pedals. Thanks for the heads up on the tabs, though I will be wearing road shoes with the pedals (when using the spd side anyways). I'll give them a try and report back!

Well didn't get my package till late Saturday - only to discover that the included screws that came with the rodeo's are too short for the road shoes that I purchased... wtf! Got an email in to Nashbar to see what they're able to do. Further more the stock pedals on my Mongoose refused to budge (regardless of liquid wrench and a mallet to the wrench - and yes I knwo about the reversed threading on the left pedal) so I put the rodeo's on the Schwinn for the moment. Now waiting to see what I can do about the cleat situation. May end up sending the pedals back... *bummer* On the flip side maybe I'll look into some LOOk style pedals for the Schwinn and just forget about trying to upgrade the pedals on the Mongoose...

I put 100 miles on the Nashbar Rodeos, and they worked great. I had to tighten them up a quarter of a turn, but other than the initial grinding they worked fine.

Yes I too had a hard time getting the screws to start, I had to put my hand in the shoe and push before they would start, but once they did, they pulled in nicely.

I also used the back side of them yesterday when I tested the gear adjustments I made. It is convenient not to have to put shoes on every time you want to test an adjustment. Also the non clip side seems to grip very well.

I guess I am happy with them after all.
