Trek 7300 or Raleigh c300, which one ?
We are buying bikes this weekend. I am trying to decide between these two bikes. I narrowed it down to two LBS and one carries mainly Raleigh and the other Trek.
Also on Trek, do you prefer 7300 Hybird or 300 Navigator Comfort.
I was also thinking the 7300 over the 7300FX for comfort. Any thoughts there.

I just got back into riding and I purchased a 7300 from my local bs.So far so good. I dressed it up with a rack and bag, put a niterider on the bars and a comp.will put some bar ends on next. Bike really rides well for the money I spent on it.Im happy with it.

I am in the same boat. Tomorrow we are going to buy our bikes. My wife and daughter picked out their bikes. My wife is getting a Raleigh venture 3.0 (2006 name for c30).
I really like the LBS. They primarily sell Raleigh and also carry some Giants, though not the ones I like.
I really like the Trek 7300, but its at a different LBS which is a few miles away from the first. I do not like the folks there. They are not as friendly and appear to cater to the high end road bike folks. This is Austin (Lance's home where road bikes are pretty popular). Anyway, they are not as nice or knowledgable. My wife and daughter were new to bikes and the person at the first store really took time to measure them out for their bikes and found a great fit. The other place assumed we knew what we wanted and were not as helpful with showing us what to look for and stuff.
Anyway, should I care where I am buying it from. Both are local businesses. Many friends like the one I don't like.
Back to the bikes. The 7300 has the twister shifter (forgot what it is called) and the c300 has the other type of shifter, the one where you fire it with button. Is that really an advantage or not. I heard its a preference, but then I heard the c300 type is usually better quality.
I did not find the c300 because the store was closing when I went back a second time to look at it. I did ride their giant cypress earlier and did not like it compared to the 7300. It was not the LX but the plain cypress.
The c300 costs 40 dollars more then the 7300 over here.
I decided against the 7300fx because I like the comfort over the extra speed.
Which one did you pick ? I need to decide tomorrow hopefully.
Thanks,

Just hit a snag. I am convinced now that I want the c200. The problem is that I need a 21 and the LBS only had a 19. The warehouses are showing that they do not have any more. One option is to get the 2006 version in place of the 2005. The 2006 I think is called passage 5.0.
The problem is looks. The 2005 is black and silver which looks good. The 2006 is white. White to me just does not seem like a good color to get. I do not really like how it looks. The LBS owner is going to call around and see if he can find one from a different LBS store in another city. I hope he finds one.
If not, what do you think of a white bike for guy.
