Need help witha kid trailer!
Help me out folks. I want to get a double trailer to haul my kids around (1 and 4) but I'm having trouble finding the right trailer/hitch combo. My bike is a hardtail mountain bike with disc brakes.....other than a Burley and their alternative hitch....whats my best bet?
Thanks!
Thanks!

A Wike trailer.
But a four year old (height and weight) might be pushing the limit of any trailer.

If you skim through the most recent three or four pages in "recreation and family", you will find several long threads with a lot of posts about selecting a trailer, and the correct methods of attaching a trailer.

I have the $95 Instep basic trailer and no issues mounting to my HT or FS bike. Mount is a metal adapter that goes on the skewer. Been pleased so far....

Do you run disc brakes on either of your bikes you use to pull the trailer?

The Wike trailer has a good hitch.
Another very good option is the Chariot. The mid-scale models without suspension or even the ones without the stroller/jogging kits are very decent – pricewise too – and have more cargo room than the high-end ones.
The hitch attaches to the quick release and doesn't interfere with either your feet or disc brake.

Good question! I don't have a disc brake (but I've seen them). Wouldn't it fit around the chainstay?
My tandem has an Arai drag brake which is too close to the stays to allow the safety strap in the normal spot. Two solutions would work out in that case:
1. Use a couple of chain links (available at a hardware store) to lenghten the safety strap. Or if you only use the trailer with one bike, sew a nylon strap onto it to make it longer.
2. Wrap it around the rear rack. This is what I did.

The InStep trailer I just got attaches to a bracket that mounts to the rear quick release. Worked great even on my disc braked hardtail.
