Wrenching with my 10 year old
Bjorn at the end of a grueling afternoon of cleaning Campy calipers. It is all about the rewards: Saving up goodwill-points for his first Swiss Army knife, a $30 Victorinox Ranger. Almost there.
I took them apart, he cleaned the parts and I greased and assembled.

Nothing wrong with that! As a gear head raising a gear head was pretty fun. We wrench on bikes and cars to this day. He is 21 now. We used to go to car shows when he was 10 or 11 and other kids were saying "look at the Viper". Mine was saying "Dad, check out the cross ram intake on the Dart GT". We are now doing a resto on a 68 Schwinn Varsity that we may build into a SS.

That's cool. While I was working on my kids road bike this weekend, my 10 y.o. was busy riding his mtn bike through the mud in the back yard (can't say I blame him)

The together time is precious.
When my oldest was three we were tearing down, painting, and rebuilding children's 20" coaster brake bikes. Reassembly quickly got to the point where all I had to do was tighten the nuts & bolts. That kid was putting them together in no time. Of course young hands aren't strong enough to mount tires, but they're quite adept at greasing and installing bearings. I still fondly remember those sessions in the basement.
Now she's 3000 miles away, designing jet fighters. Kinda took the Wright Bros. legecy to the max I think.
