First real ride of season with wife.
So, we had temps in the 70's, so I loaded the two mtn bikes in the van and we drove to one of our favorite trails.
There were literally 100's of folks out hiking and riding, and it was real nice, as my wife is not a "fast" rider, and we just took our time and said "howdy." The 20 foot wide hard-packed gravel trail is called the Highline Canal Trail and wanders through the south side of the Denver Metro Area for about 70 miles.
She wears a t-shirt that says www.fitterafter50.com (I think) - we were recently featured as "masters of fitness" in a book about that topic. We didn't do too bad for a couple of folks in their 60's, if I may so so myself.
There is a rec center along the way, along with other activities. So we rode for about 2 hours, and we had a coupon for a buy one get one free Dairy Queen Sundae, and after our ride I had hot fudge (with cherry, whipped cream and nuts) and she had butterscotch.
All in all a great afternoon.
What about the rest of you? Anyone else get out with their family today?

made it up to 64 here in southern IL. Just got back from a 44 mile ride with a friend. Ate at McDonalds in Centralia IL. Had a Big -n- Tasty, fries and a diet coke.

I wish I could say the same. Last night's incident has jaded me. I really don't want to ride today but I will haave to ride to the Wife's work and ride home with her.

My wife is one of those mutants who trashes the whole concept of training. Before I met her she did the MS 150 on a MTB with platfrom pedals. Last Nov, she did a metric with me after not riding for months. In Dec. she did a half century. That was the last time she was on a bike.
Next weekend I'm attempting a century in GA. She's coming along to do a half. I'm going to make her ride tomorrow just to make sure her bike still works.

This is the first year my wife is seriously into riding. She's planning on doing one organized ride in the fall under 20 miles, but loves to ride with me and our son. She even bought shorts and a helmet, which surprised me.

Saturday Donna and I went out for another ride together - the weather here was colder than usual (approx 50 degrees) but she was a trooper. We took our bikes out to Robins Air Force Base and rode two laps around the perimeter plus a cruise through the lemon (used car) lot. Total mileage was 16.5. This coming Saturday we'll be riding the 18 mile option of the Tour De Pike (https://www.kiwanispike.org/tourdepike.html). I'm certain she'll be able to do it without any problems.
Is anyone else planning on riding the Tour De Pike?
