Went for a beach ride.

Today I took my 8 year old son to Hunting Island State Park, SC for a ride on the beach on his last day of fall intercession. We rode for 8 miles and had a pretty good time. The weather was unusually warm for October and we both got some sunburn. We parked at the fishing pier on Fripp Inlet, at the south end of Hunting Island, then rode north on the beach, near low tide, to the lighthouse. We took a break at the lighthouse, but didn't climb it as I was wearing clipless pedal shoes. We rode back on the Park Road and some of the trails.

Here is how wide the beach is now that a renorishment project has been completed:

Yes, we wore matching jerseries from our LBS, Lowcountry Bicycles.
The notso little guy can really ride. He's been using that bike to help his cardiovascular fitness to help improve his football (gaurd/tackle). Santa may bring him something special if he is good.
