trek vs giant

I am looking to buy a new hybrid--my gf is sick of me using her Trek 7000. I like the ride and handling of the trek hybrids, but my brother is offering to sell his brand new Giant Cypress DX for only $300. I 'm not crazy about the handling, front supsension or the seat, but on the other hand it is a 24 speed for almost the same price as the Trek 7000. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't BUY a bike I didn't like period. Now if it were free I would at least try it for a while then keep it or give it to someone else to try.

Short answer:
Go with what you dig, dig?

Long answer:
I am speaking as a fan of Giant (OCR especially) and have ridden the Giant Sedona DX for a couple
of years before I realized it wasn't me that was cranky... it was the bike. I don't know how many
speeds the Trek 7000 has, but here's what you need to ask yourself: Do you ever run out of gears
and want to go faster but can't? (I'm sure there is a technical term for this.) If the answer to this
is "not often" or "I don't even notice", then stay with the bike that suits you.

The Trek 7000 has an MSRP of $279. I am sure that if you find an '07 it would be cheaper than that. I believe it has 21 speeds. Buying the new Trek 7000 over a used Giant for $300 sounds like a no-brainer to me, especially since you don't really like the Giant all that much
