Cruiser-style trails for family riding in Greater DC Area

I am seeking input for places to ride with my elementary-school-aged children. I'll probably be riding a beach cruiser; they will be riding single speeds. Their attention span is such that I probably can get around 40 minutes of riding total from them. The course should also be fairly flat. Mason Neck State Park in Virginia looks promising, although I do not know how long the paved trail is. Beach Drive in DC in weekends also looks promising. Any other suggestions? I'd be willing to drive all the way to the Delaware Beach if it looked like one of the beach towns had promising rides.

Burke Lake is about 5 miles around and a nice little ride. Wakefield has some nice flat easier single track. I took my 8 year old on it the other day. There was a 6 year old out there also. They really enjoyed it. W&OD is ok, but I find it less interesting than the parks. Fountainhead would not be a good choice. There are some nice trails in Reston but I am not familiar enough to give names or directions. Check out M.O.R.E. They have some forums that talk about trails. Mostly geared toward adult riding but there is some info there to help with younger kids.

Good Luck.
