What's the Trek equivalent of the Giant Cypress? Which is better, why?

The Trek Pure and Trek Navigator both seem similar in seating position and concept to the Cypress. (The Treks have 26-inch tires, whereas the Cypress runs 700c wheels).

I have no opinion as to which is better. Why do you ask? Is there something about the Giant that you don't like?

The Trek Pure is closely related to the Giant Suede series. From what I can gather the Trek 7000 series bikes are more similar to the Giant Cypress series. Just depends on the model of Cypress you were looking at.

Before I bought my Trek 7100 I test-rode a half-dozen hybrid models. My choice boiled down to three functional equivalents: the Trek 7100, the Specialized Crossroads Sport, and the Giant Cypress. I had problems with the right shifter/rear derailleur on the Giant Cypress that I didn't have with any other bike I test-rode, so I ruled it out first. I chose the Trek 7100 because I got a great vibe from that bike store, and it was 15 miles closer than the Specialized Crossroads Sport dealer. Had the shops been reversed I would've chosen the Specialized Crossroads Sport.

Everything in the Trek 7000 series has 700cX35 tires. The Trek 7100 is closest to the Giant Cypress. If you thought the Crossroads was too bulky, you might look at the Specialized Globe. It's $80 more, but it might be closer to what you're looking for.

Trek 7100 seems about over $100 US dollars more than Giant Cypress. Is that right? Is it worth it?

We have a 7100 WSD in our stable. my wife loves it. When i cracked the frame on my road bike i used it as my bike to get around town.

as far as a hybrid goes i was impressed fast, agile good brakes. what i put the WSD thru in a few weeks i am sure welll exceeded normal expected use of a 7100 WSD. and it took it without a hitch.
This is the only hybrid in our stable.
In this range there is not a lot of diffecne between bikes. hover there is a vast amount of differnece between bike shops.
Go to the shop that doesnt treat you like second class because you are not on a carbon frame.
    Cars make you weak.
