A man I see on my street had a seat that was like 2 pivoting pads for a couple of years. He has now replaced it with a conventional Selle Italia. I think they are designed by medical experts with no idea of the multiple requirements of a bycicle saddle. It must provide support, shock absorption, control of the bike, without interference with pedalling. The conventional saddle is the only design that can provide all this. There are a colossal variety that conform to this concept but only one may fit your butt.

If you look at bike magazines from th 19C, they are full of wonder-saddles, with separate pads, etc. These thing keep coming back, as long as there are newbie riders to buy them.
The comfiest saddles are the old-style Brooks leather ones, they comform to your shape, but thay take a little time to bed in.

I use a Spiderflex saddle. It is great and I would use no other. I test rode it first for about two weeks (I commute to work. I noticed the difference when I went back to the conventional saddle for one day.

I bought a Spiderflex bike seat last year and it is worth every penny.
Biking now, is so comfortable -- my son and I rode in the MS Bike tour 100 mile bike a thon and I don't have one complaint.

Hope that helps.
