Bike to the Sea is a group working to get a bike route from Malden, MA to the beach in Lynn, MA. They have an annual ride to the beach, with tremendous assistance from the police departments. Especially in Lynn where there was either a patrol car and officer, or a bike officer at every difficult intersection. They even stopped traffic that had green lights and waved the bikes through the reds. The first "half" was 9 miles, the return only 7, because the ride ended at a church festival, where you got $5 of your registration money back to buy lunch. The ride had a "fast" group and a "family" group that included kids. A well run, great week-end event for cycling families. If you are in the Boston area next year, check it out. http://www.biketothesea.com/bikedayreg.htm
