What lights for being seen?

I'd like to find some relatively inexpensive but adequate lighting for the family's cruisers. This no daylight savings time is no fun! What are you using and where'd ya' get 'em?

Any bike shop will have a decent selection of lights (front and rear) for every budget.

If you test it at the LBS and it doesn't just about blind you when you're holding it in your hand, it's pretty worthless.

For tail lights? Planet Bike Super Flash, Cateye TL-LD1100, and maybe a few others. If the light isn't in the range of brightness of those, it won't be very visible unless you're all alone on a dark street. Otherwise it'll just get lost in any clutter or won't be visible at all.

Head lights need to be bright enough to be seen - unless you spend a real good bit of money they won't actually be bright enough to provide enough light for you to go much more than about 15 mph safely.

headlights i've come to enjoy: Planet Bike (PB) Blaze 2W and 1W. The 2W is stunning, literally. The 1W about 95% as stunning, and a slightly longer run time.

tail lights: PB Superflash is fine. Blackburn Mars 4.0 is even better.

don't cheap out on lights. would you buy a car with useless/dim headlights or tail lights? well,... you'll be riding the same roads, so be seen and stay alive.

I'm another Planetbike fan: https://ecom1.planetbike.com/3047.html

I did add a 100 lumen flashlight to my helmet just recently.
A 3 pack of flashlights including 9 AAA batteries for $18 from Costco:
