Ask in the Road Cycling or General Cycling forum. Lots of GPS users there.

do a search for "bike computers" either for the Iphone or Android. I use a program called "move" or something like that. It gives a slew of options to choose from...basically any data set you'd like to have.

I have a Garmin GPS, but I never use it anymore.

An iPhone and Runkeeper app is awesome. Tracks and stores your rides and gives you a map as you go.

I use the app, ,Cyctastic, and am very pleased with it. The GPS feature seems very accurate.

I have tried several, currently using MyTracks on an HTC Incredible (Android). There are plenty of free apps and software packages, try several and see what works for you.

I personally use RunKeeper to track my ride, and give me occasional verbal coaching (Every half mile).

I use Move (For android) as the cyclecomputer.

The mounting method I used is a big 2" binder clip, with rubber bands giving some tension to the arms. Worked much better than the other out of the box solutions.

Get a bike mount for your smartphone (assuming you have one), and use Google Maps. It has a bicycling mode. I find it plenty enough, given my Cateye Wireless gives me the rest of the info I need for the trip.
