Weehoo + Kona MinUte?
Hi! New poster here.
I have two kids and am trying to figure out how to do the school commute with them in a way that works for us. The 4yo has been on his own two wheels for a year now and has as 16" bike; he would likely not tolerate being tucked away in a trailer or having to sit on a child seat (he is also a big kid). While we are mostly commuting and doing weekend rides for now, we'd like to do much longer trips in the future.
What I had wanted to do was get the FollowMe Tandem Coupling, but it seems it's out of stock in the United States for the foreseeable future, though I am waiting for an email back from CleverCycles in Portland, OR to confirm/deny. (Maybe I can order from abroad somehow?)
So as Plan B, I'm looking at getting a Weehoo and attaching it to my bike. I have a big Gary Fisher mountain bike with nubby tires. Instead of converting it to ride better on pavement, I'm thinking of getting a Kona MinUte (or a Kona Ute, or a Surly Big Dummy--though the price tag on the Kona MinUte is really seductive, and it seems like it might be small enough to work with the Weehoo.
With the Weehoo, I'd have to keep my 2yo on the front of the bike (he's in an iBert but wil surely outgrow it--I know there are some other options). The FollowMe would allow for the ideal situation, which is a rear seat for him.
Anyway, my question is whether or not a Weehoo would work with the not-very-longtail on the Kona MinUte. Anyone have any ideas?

We have a Weehoo. I haven't seen a Kona Ute in person, but after looking at the Xtracycle and the Yuba Mundo, I don't think there's any way the "arm" on the Weehoo is long enough to extend over the back of a cargo bike. I'm in a similar situation--20-month old son in a ibert on the front and 3.5 year old daughter in the back with a Weehoo or on a Topeak Babyseat. I've been looking at the Co-Rider or "Tyke Toter" as a "next step" to keep both of them on one bike with me. I like the Weehoo because my daughter gets to be an active participant.
