    New to cycling

    Hi I'm new to this forum

    I've never ridden a bike before, at least not without training wheels, my mom was very overprotective when I was a kid so she got very mad when I removed the small wheels. I still want to learn so I got a bike but need some advice, according to what I've read and watched on videos, it is recommended to someone whos is learning to lower the saddle so the feet can reach the ground, I didn't know this befeore I got the bike and I realized that the saddle its at its mimimun height so I can't lower it any further, then, is it still possible to learn or should I change my bike for one with lower height?

    It is possible, but harder. Many many years ago when I got my first bike, my parents didn't believe in training wheels. My bike was too big fore me but I figured it out. Just be careful where you are doing it. It may be easier to use a something to step up on to start off with. Good luck and enjoy riding.

    Learning as an adult, I think you will probably get a feel for it much quicker. Just make sure the bike is the right size for you to ride. If it is too big, you will never be able to get comfortable on it.

    Once you get a sense of balance, you will find the best way of getting going on the bike is to stand over the top tube and push off, lifting yourself into the saddle with your first pedal stroke.

    environment.

    Thank you all for your answers, I'll be starting tomorrow. 1nterceptor, I'm from Costa Rica, I haven't heard about an organization like those here, but if you know something please let me know.

    Guys, I did it

    I tried on grass and it took me about half an hour, I was able to keep balance for 2 minutes.

    Now I'm experiencing an issue with the chain, maybe it has something to do with the gears (which I don't know how to use), after some time I feel that is harder to keep pedaling and then like something unmounts.

    a lower saddle will let you remove the peddles and puch with your feet until you feel comfortable with balance and speed. the trick to "staying up" on a bike is some momentum and speed because of the stabilizing the gyroscopic affect of the spinning wheels actually helps keep you vertical! the slower you go the more likely you are to tip over to one side or wobble. start in big empty parking lots where you have room to also learn turning.

    Hi, I am also new to this forum. I have a bike & I have never ridden a bike without taking training. I always ride a bike with my friends & visit many places. My mom is also over protective for me. Everyone should take training before riding bike. bike
