I Quit. And I Start Over.

I changed. My custom title is now "Rose Smeller", instead of Captain Big Ring. I have spent a lot of time posting in A&S, Commuting, and other forums but now that I've turned 61 I'm getting less and less interested in riding aggressively and commuting and living car-light and getting into arguments about it at internet forums . My style of riding has morphed into the "neighborhood old guy on a bike getting some exercise". I've stopped riding fast on purpose. I have ceased taking lanes. I stop and sit on park benches. It does not bug me if someone in "Full Kit" passes me. I wave to children. If a dog chases me down the street, I turn around and lead him back to his grateful owner. I know the mailman's name. I ride in the rain on purpose because it feels good. Sometimes I'm gone on the bike all day long and I only rode ten miles. I wear a straw hat instead of a helmet. I will never compete in the Tour. I am a recreational cyclist. I admit it.

That's not quitting, that's transitioning.

At least you are still on a bike. Just sounds like a fresh restart to me.

Most of my favorite rides in the last few months have been "junk miles" -- enjoy!
