Best Bike for towing a Burley Bee trailer
Hello! For Christmas I got my husband the Burley Bee trailer, so we can start taking our son (21 months) out on rides when it warms up. I'm thinking beach bike path, neighborhood streets, etc., casual family rides. We both have fancy road bikes, but we're looking for "casual" bikes to hitch the trailer to.
Everything I've read says "NO beach cruisers, NO suspension, YES gears" but I'm wondering if people have more specific suggestions (make and model) of bikes that the Bee works well with???
I'd like to keep price around $400 each, although my husband will probably be doing most of the towing, so we may have extra room in the budget if I just stick with my road bike and we only get one new bike for him to use with the Bee.
For what it's worth, I'm 5'2 and my husband is 6'0. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

You don't really need to get more specific. You want gears and you don't want suspension. The last piece is to get a bike that fits and is fun to ride. I've used folding bikes.

The forged Burly Hitch works under the Axle nut on a solid axle and IGH rear hubs , Or under the end of a QR skewer..
I'll repeat : Pick a Bike Shop you like doing Business with ... get a Bike from them .. they will talk to you about the Options..

- It adds a ton of weight
- It wastes a lot of effort since every time you pedal, you compress the suspension
- In your price range, suspension is going to be low-quality and pretty much useless unless you really luck out on a used bike
- Rear suspension isn't designed to cope with trailer loads
I pull a dual trailer all the time with a basic mountain bike with front suspension and slick tires on it (Jamis Trail X1).
Extra advice, make sure the brakes are properly set up. This shouldn't be a problem if you're buying new from a bike shop, but if you buy used or from a big box store, be sure they work, and work well, before you hook up the trailer.

Do you already have bicycles? Type?
Are you carrying kids or cargo?
I have a little trailer for cargo that I pull behind my Colnago Super. Some people at a bike store were laughing at me.
If you have hills and heavy loads, then low gears are nice.
