Ride Report

BP wanted a ride report from me so I thought todays adventure on the bent would be a good one for this forum.
I did 109 miles today. The first 46 went extremely well and I covered the distance in a little under two hours on my Aero. The rest of the ride? Well getting totally lost and a slow leaky rear tire and the bonk combined with more miles than I had water or Hamer gel for and that about says it all. I was biking in a remote area of Wisconsin with little services so you have to carry everything. I carried to little. Very dumb and I of course know better but I was in a hurry to do the ride and I prepared little except for my route.
I was planning on about 85 miles but it turned into a lot more ride. My average speed droped to about 19.5 for the day. The slow leaky rear tire I did not realize for at least 95 plus miles. All I noticed was the head wind on the return and the constant chip seal applied roads and loose gravel. Yet I was just slowing down and I was working harder. I just figured it was the head wind taking its toll. But it was the leaky rear tire with the extreamly slow leak. One very bad day on the bike but yet a good day since my last hundred miler was months ago. So it go's when you do a long ride. Beautifull sceanery in a very hilly and beautiful part of my state. I also went through Janesville Wisconsin at rush hour traffic on my Aero and the bike along with a rear view mirror worked flawlessly for you commuters on this site. My only problem was a run in with a motorcyclist that was very upset with my very presence on "his "Janesville" road. A very lowlife Wisconsin factory town. I noticed when I watched the local 10:00 pm news on the weather map there was no Janesville. Only the prosperous towns with class like Lake Geneva and other similar towns were on the local weather map. Hmmm......
And did I mention the fat women driving big fat gas guzzling trucks? I think the very largest trucks are built in Janseville by GM and that the very largest ugliest women in America reside in this sorry town....

Did you blow off any pro teams? Pass Eval Knieval doing 95 perhaps?

It sounds like you had a hard, but rewarding ride. What day? Wednesday? Slow leaks - they happen. I try to carry a patch kit and pump on longer rides, but not always on the shorter ones. I hope you just smiled and waved at the motorcycle - that really gets 'em mad.

I did a century on Sunday, but it was a lot flatter. Flat farmland isn't as interesting as forests, hills, and curvy roads.

Yup John it was Wednesday. Just another day on the bike. I had a block of time so I did some miles. Not how I planned it but fun anyway.
Judging by a few posts on this site there is a town called "Janesville" that they would fit well in. But the true story is how stupid the DF cycling community is in 2005. That one is way beyond me! The most fat people I ever did see on a bike but maybe thats a good thing afterall. I used to post things about Fat Old Guys on recumbents but that is wrong. Its Fat Old Guys with lots of money buying Lance bikes from Trek. This is God's honest truth. And I bet it's happing all over America.....

I've noticed a lot more riding up this way since the end of the TdF. And it's pretty obvious that most of these folks don't ride too often. But hey, at least they're out riding.
