People Birmingham England

Why are the people in Birmingham England such a load of mindless idiots. If all there Brains were put together they would not have enough power to blow the top of a tin of beans.
This observation has come about since i have had a recumbent.
The bad attitide towards recumbents in Birmingham is terrilble, and i can only put it down to the type of people that live in Birmingham.
There is not a word that discribes how low they are,it must be somthing to do with our social security system that allows sub normals to breed like flys.

Well i have been proven right about the idiots that live in
Birmingham. My brother was out last night, minding his own business, and he was beaten up with out warning. He is now in hospital with hardley any teeth, fractured jaw,eye damage, and bruising of the brain.
This as i say was done for no reason, except that the mindless idiots felt like doing it.

whats going on here?

detrieux 05-10-03 04:17 PM

Was this because he was on his bent or bike?

ORBIT 1 05-10-03 04:46 PM

For no reason ,no motive,nothing.
Just for the sake of it.

Please keep us posted on your brothers progress. We have him in our thoughts and prayers.

ORBIT 1 05-11-03 03:05 PM

Thanks.
Hes doing really well.He is on a trial drug from America, that they give to crash
victims. It seems to be doing a great job.You would not believe the difference in him.He will have to have false teeth though,in fact the first people to see him in hospital were physicaly sick.
So thatwill give you some idea of how good this drug is.My sister is a nurse and she had never heared of it,but it looks good.
Thanks again

The problem isn't Birmingham. When I rode the BikeE, most people on the path considered me a joke with rude remarks, obsenities and even spraying water in my face.

For some reason, a bent brings so much attention that bad karma is sometimes brought upon the cyclists. The situation gets worse when you take the bent in city traffic since you require more space than a bicycle. In short, people think they can just abuse the bent rider because he's considered strange for riding a silly bike. It's a sad comment on society. :(

ORBIT 1 05-14-03 11:31 AM

Yes its very bad.People dont seem to want to use there brains.
They will be aggresive and even attack recumbent riders with out even knowing why a person rides one.
it really does make one wonder about the human race.

I hope your brother recovers well. I'm not intending to make light your undeserved misery but I can't help myself picturing a re-make of Stanley Kubrick's film from the '70's "A Clockwork Orange Bent".

ORBIT 1 05-14-03 12:46 PM

What a film?I wouldnt mind some of these idiots having the treatment the star got in that film.
I quite like the idea of people becoming sick if they try to attack cyclists,it would do road rage a power of good.

Sorry about your brother.
I am however pleased that bents are still considered something that attracts the lunatic fringe... That's the very reason I'm building one :D

My heart goes out to you and your brother, keep us posted on his condition. It's really disturbing to hear things like this. Here in Minneapolis, Minnesota recumbents are pretty much common place and about 95% of the time I get compliments, thumbs up, and other positive feed back. That other 5%? Well, it's bad but not near that bad. Take care and be careful.

Birmingham sounds like a pretty rough place. I live in Calgary, Canada and have never had a problem when riding my bent. Sounds like it's time for a move.

birmingham sucks a bit in general. on all fronts really. best described as britain's biggest small town. there's some sort of latent antipathy in the air here...

until i turn it into a hotbed of revolutionary politics. things are getting better from here on in. [viva la rivoluzione!]
