Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

weaving? maybe trying to miss potholes, gravel, cracks in the pavement....................
I didn't see any weaving in my clip. Like you can really tell if someone weaves from a forward mounted headcam................... You may be interpreting my head wobbling back and forth when pushing hard.
I hold a straight line.

Now I'm starting to remember why I don't hang out around here hardly anymore. Too many roadie trolls invading the recumbent forum.

Hey, I see you are from Tennessee. I'll be down there Friday evening for the Brat tour. Saturday at noon is a group ride with the Jackson cycling club. I guess its a 40 mile (no drop ride).........such a pity............

however if you want to see me wobble, I'll be there. I can guarentee that if you see any wobbling , it will be with a telescope.

Exactly. And what was his point in moving out towards the center line forcing the roadies to pass him in an oncoming lane that was open to traffic? Nice one lowracer! He claims to be traveling at 25-26mph "before the chase was on". If you stick your face within a couple of feet of the road and are traveling at 50mph it sure looks like you're going much faster. I wonder if he buried them until he couldn't see them in his hand mirror?

dude, i can fly downhill but of course, i'm a clyde so downhills are the fun part. It looked like wobble to me..you were all over that lane. As far as your offer for the ride on saturday, I'm sorry but i'd rather not drive 130 miles to ride with a jerk. You might have the engine buddy but you sure seem to be an arrogant a$$.

never been banned...don't really talk on here often. If a moderator tells me that the language I used should not be used, I will happily change the wording....basically I was saying the guy is a jerk....just in a different version of the word. how about I make everyone happy and change it....it still doesn't change the fact that the guy is a jerk. It's like me going out and dropping someone on a ride who didn't know we were racing and then coming home to brag about it.

Sorry, you're already insignificant to me.

I've paid my dues in the bicycle industry for more years than you've probably been alive.
If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. I tell that to my 4 year olds! Get me drift, junior?

Heh - Ragbrai is a whole nother animal. When you have 20,000 bikes on the road, we take up all 4 lanes all the time, unless a car is coming, which on most days was less than ten (the police maintained the routes very strictly and residents were warned weeks prior). It was so eerie being able to crest a hill and see 1000 riders in front, and another 1000 behind. It was a neverending sea of bikes from 6a-6p.

fine...we agree to be insignificant to each other....no skin off of my back.

You've paid your dues in the bicycle industry...blah blah....this site isn't free to run...why don't you get off your high horse and pay the $25 to help them pay for the server fees. Even I could afford $25 on my grad school stipend.

ON another note, i took a look at your homepage. Some of your paint schemes are bad a$$! I like the custom headtube works...

Looking at the clip, I'd say he was avoiding crappy pavement. That was some seriously horrible stuff to be riding on.

OK - change it. Regardless of how you interpreted the events, the language you used was inappropriate. Next time, try being a bit more clever.

Yes indeed! Thanks 55/RAD. This has certainly been fun, in spite of it all!
Next paycheck I'm sending in my $25! The "insignificant" other convinced me! And thanks for checking out my website and replying favorably. I'll be updating it soon with pics from this millenium!
With 4 kids 12 and under, I barely have time to paint, much less get all the digitally to my webmaster.
I guess I COULD be doing THaT instead of reading BikeForums, but BF is pretty entertaining!
Thanks for the great dialog.

ha..."insignificant" other...that was my LOL for the day...thanks...is the "dead head" painting on the head tube a painting or is actually raised? it is almost three dimensional looking...quite cool. I have a custom steel bike that I'd like to have extra stuff added too so I'm alway appreciative of good work. Peace....back to the roadie forum

We all know how scenery looks at various speeds, but it can seem alot different when you see it through a camera. Last February, at our annual winter meeting for the Michigan Human Powered Vehicle Association, Garrie Hill played a video from the World Human Powered Speed Challenge. A camera was placed inside Warren Beauchamp`s Barracuda-W streamliner before one of his high speed runs. By watching the scenery going by in the video the run seemed pretty slow, although Warren was going almost 65 mph. By watching the white lines on the road in the video instead of the scenery, you get a better feel of the actual speed Warren was going, but it still seemed much slower than 65mph. Here`s a link to the video, check it out and you will see for yourself how the camera can make it seem that you are going slower than you actually are.... http://tinyurl.com/hanz3 ...The last few years I`ve ridden thousands of miles with Chris, and I can assure you he easily goes the speeds he says he was doing in the video.

I've been LOL for the last hour! I can hardly type my replies!

As for the headtube designs, yes, they are raised. They are Bondoed to the headtube prior to painting and then finished into the overall paintjob. I'll be posting more pics in the near future of some of the other designs I've done. Check back in a few weeks.

Alas, I don't visit the roadie forum much as I hung up all my road bikes a decade ago when I got 'bent. I still have them all, but they don't see the light of day much anymore.
I'm still road riding, only I have 3 wheels under me instead of 2. And I'm very comfortable!

and HEY! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VIDEO CLIP?

I wentback to take a look at what all the fuss was about and got some message staing the clip had been removed!! Removed to WHERE?

Anyway, PEACE to all. Especially this 11th day of September. May that NEVER happen to any one anywhere. EVER AGAIN!

pray for PEACE! Dr. D

On an organized ride that requires flags, I think that's about right.

BTW, if you're going to race someone, try actually participating in a race. I can round up an extra bike if you want to try it and see what slouches we racers are.

Or if you have an extra 'bent I'm sure there are plenty of us roadies who'd be happy to smoke you.

I passed a guy in a fully geared Lance uniform while he was replacing a tube in his bike on the side of the road. I totally dropped him.
