Recumbents and the Garmin Edge 305

Hi All,

Has anybody mounted the Garmin Edge 305 on their recumbent ?
My main concern is with the sensors and the range, is it problematic or do most people find no problems with mounting them on the recumbents ?

The other question I have: Does anybody run two sensors - One for the cadence and one for the speed ?
On the Garmin, the speed and cadence magnetic pickups is within the same sensor, which for a recumbent this is not possible so my only thought is that a rider would have to buy two of them and mount them separately - Is this what is done ?

Appreciate any and all replies.

Many Thanks.

I run a Garmin Edge on all of my bents, the same one actually. :)

Seriously, though, I only use the speed sensor for indoor training. I've had no trouble with the GPS determining speed outside. I don't worry about cadence; I'm a natural spinner. As far as range, I've got my speed sensor mounted to the back of a lowracer and the distance to the unit is 38". However, like I said, I've never had trouble with the GPS doing all of the speed and distance determinations.

I've heard good things about the 305, including other posters on this forum who love it.

I'm looking for a unit that allows me to program routes into it, so I can do all my route planning at home and then the unit will tell me which way I need to turn. Ever seen anything like that? The 305 just does "bread crumbs" on the unit itself -- you have to plug it into your computer to see the route compared to roads or topos or google earth.
