front panniers on a bent?
has anyone tried putting a front rack with small panniers and maybe 15-20 pounds on a 26/650 front recumbent wheel? if yes, how did it handle after this?
just wondering if weight could be disributed this way in a touring scenario.
thanks

It has been done, I have seen pix of bents so tricked out and
www.hostelshoppe.com has a variety of front racks and bags
for small wheel bents. I would think handling would deteriorate
but have no experience. There was a poster at www.bentrideronline.com
who toured Europe several summers on a Rans Stratus with a front
and rear pannier setup.

Well, as long as your feet don't hit the panniers, you'd be fine.

Its been done and it works well, The wife and I tour with a Ffront rack on our Gulfstream and when touring alone I use it mounted on my slipstream
This a photo of the rack mounted on the bike.

This is a photo of the bags with the rain covers from a tour last year.

And from the cockpit.

The rack just looks like it was made for the bike, made by Nitto so quality is not an issue. No problem with my feet hitting the bags. I tried the OMM rack and found it sat to high above the front wheel, it worked fine, just looked out of place. I also built a custom rack from 3/8" solid 6160 but it was just a little clunky looking.

Bent front panniers
Has anyone seen a Greenspeed trike with panniers on the front? Pictures? I have a GTO that I wonder about putting a rack and panniers on the front - heck ingenuity is just another trait that should be exploited ;-)

IM sure it could be done...But why clutter the view? The wife and I had a Organic Engines Torika tandem trike what I did was to build a custom rack that allowed us to use our Arkel TT84's and the GT35's. The GT35's mounted right behind the the wifes seat. Sorry its not a very good photo, we were camping in the woods and it was getting dark...
