Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

Bikes of the Future

Just a quick note.

In the movie LATHE OF HEAVEN (2002) all the bicycles shown in the street scenes are recumbents. One shot even shows a couple rolling along on a recumbent tandem (looks like a RANS Screamer).

Since the movie is set in an unspecified future date, the production designer must have decided that recumbents are truly the "bikes of the future".

I hate to point this out, but we're not wearing aluminium foil suits and driving flying cars yet, as per 1950s scifi predictions

Well, maybe you aren't, but I am. I just picked up my aluminum business suit from the robotic dry cleaners' this morning. I had to ride my recumbent there, because my flying BMW was in the shop...

Wow, you still leave the house in this modern world? I just do all my work in my underwear from the kitchen.

It's an unfortunate necessity... the time lag in communications to the Moon and Mars is just too large!
