Pain in the knees
There used to be an old saying about how to adjust the seat-pedal distance by whether the pain was above, or below the knew. Does anyone have any advice. Bike in question is a Street Machine.
Some variations mention if the pain is in front of your kneecap, or behind (with the same relative solutions).
There's different causes for knee problems you can be having however.
I kept getting pain on 50-60+ mile rides, but only during the top-half of pedal strokes. I got a set of Rotor Q-rings and set them up to take the load off the top half and shift the pedaling load more into the bottom-half of the stroke (which is "incorrect" in terms of maximizing power output) but I have gotten a significant inprovement in knee comfort.
The downside of the Q-rings is the prices ($240+ for a road triple) and that the shifting isn't perfect; the chain is stubborn about going from the middle to the small ring now. All the other shifts work fine.
