    seat material ... ventisit?

I just came from a bike day in Tilburg, the Netherlands. I came across a material that supposedly allows you to breathe and helps to prevent sweating ... or helps to keep your clothes dry, you know what I mean.

The name of this material I learned was ventisit. I did a google search and only came up with a handful of sites. Here's a link to a photo of the material ...http://www.smitveld.nl/ventisit.htm

Is this material available near you ... and what do you call it?

    Thanks, Dave Horne

Once again looks like the Euros are one up on us (US). Never seen anything like it on a bent. Looks woven. Is it smooth or rough in feel. Looks rough but could have a different feel. Looks attractive for the M5 type seats. Steve

Steve, it felt smooth. It looks a little like GoreTex type material, but is thicker. I have no idea if it works as claimed, but I will try to buy that material in bulk. As I understand it, you buy it preformed as seat material. It is about 1/4 - 3/8 inch think as one thickness.

When I have more information, I will pass it on. It seems a bit pricey, but if it works, I'll buy it.

If it is UV resistant, and as wear resistant as it looks and is comfortable I would say the price is reasonable. Good foam is hard to find and foam with adequate 'loft' or resistance to compression harder. Closed cell foam 2-3cm thickness plus a cover is not going to be much less. Steve
