I'm a new recumbent rider, but I'm not riding a new recumbent. It's a Counterpoint Presto and it's so old it has Suntour derailleurs with bar end shifters. The rear shifter is supposed to index, but it works better in friction mode, which would normally be fine with me because I generally prefer friction shifting anyway. I always liked Suntour gears.
But on the recumbent, shifting is different. I can see and hear the crank really well, but cannot see the rear derailleur at all, and can only hear it when it's really complaining. And I can't even tell which cog the rear derailleur is on. So now I find I'm shifting the front derailleur a lot more than the rear one.
So, my question is: what derailleur/shifter combination is best for a recumbent? What do you guys use? What do you recommend?
