recumbent waterbiking
hi everybody
I own an oldish m5 28/20; a Dutch recumbent, also called a 'Streetlegal', still a pleasure to ride.
But may favourite now is the Open Waterbike. Ever tried recumbent bicycling on water? Some of the feelings are the same, some are completely new. The position is more comfortable, since you can sit higher than the crank axis. Cranking feels slightly different, you need to get used to it, but smooth (no hills there..) and pleasant enough. Also, you can make different encounters, see picture...
I started a new collective project to diffuse recumbent waterbiking in a new fashion, it's called 'The Open Waterbike Project. Just believed you could be interested...

waterbike's speed
Well waterbikes ARE fast, and you feel the speed.
Thought, on water it's different. Waterbikes come in two different types; fastest ones are hydrofoils, don't miss the video here:

Long distance waterbikes, by contrast, are not so fast, but designed for sustainable speed, lasting several hours. Speed at 150 W is 6 to 7 knots, that is 10 to 12 Kph or (I believe) 7 to 8 Mph. The ratio swimming/waterbiking is more or less the same as running/biking: it's the most efficient way to move oon water under human power.
A couple of videos (not so impressive, but showing a more relaxed approach) cne be found here:

The concept is exactly the same as for recreational recumbent biking: fitness, tourism, even commuting.
