A real scream.
For those of you not familiar with Charleston, WV, it is located, essentially, in the bottom of a canyon; we have 'the flats' down by the river, and then roads going up what are practically cliffs.
Not long ago I went up one of those near cliffs, Wertz Avenue. And up. And up. Sometimes I was going very slowly, in my lowest gear, but I was going. Then the road dead ended onto Oak Ridge. The 'Ridge' designation was accurate--it mostly went along the top of a ridge. Then it started going down the other side. Now, if going up Wertz was a challenging strain, going down Oakridge (which deadended into Greenbrier, which went down to the river) was a bigger, if very different challenge. Have any of you watched the Winter Olympics, especially the luge? Have you wondered what it was like? I think I now know. I haven't a computer on my bike so I don't know how fast I was going exactly. But it was a real scream. |
I am glad you enjoyed...would not be my kind of ride. I do not care for speed. ON the other hand the scenery would have been the scream for me. Bet it was beautiful.

Actually, I wasn't looking at the scenery much. I was too much occupied with keeping my machine on track. People say that 'bents, particularly those with USS, don't give you an upper-body workout, but I certainly got one, even if it was mostly isometric.
