Rode my first recumbent!
Well I somehow got stuck assembling a Sun EZ at the shop today, and I had zero recumbent experience other than blowing past retirees wearing traffic cone orange vests with a 15' orange flag off the back. After I built it and dialed it in I was told it had to be test ridden as they often do no behave on pavement as they do on the stand. I was kinda nervous, having never ridden one, but I wheeled it outside, kicked off, wobbled for a second, and next thing I knew I was doing about 20 across the parking lot trying to drift it into the corners :D These things are FUN! I'm half tempted to get one now... but I have too many bikes already, and I'm 22 so I gotta be concerned with my image :p Very cool, and very comfortable bikes!

I hardly ever see someone really ride one. I mean someone that makes it move like I do on my road bike.

Was it a trike?

EZ3 is a trike
|
He describes the bike as having one "24 or 26 rear wheel". I suspect the bike he is referring to is not a trike.
|
Sounds like the EZ Sport or Sport Limited.
|
Nah it was a two wheeler... I just said EZ3 because I see the name a lot as we sell a lot of them.... it was probably an Easy Sport... definately pretty sweet whatever it was.
|
http://www.easyracers.com/about.htm just go down the list on the right there will be a pic of each EZ then you will know and if you post that info we will know what bike you road.

Dad? HEY, why not ride it yourself? Bents are not "bikes for geezers" or people with physical limitations!!! (though they're great for those folks!) Bents are just darn FUN and you've only seen the tip of the tip of the whole iceberg!
We've got 'em all: long wheel base; short wheel base; medium wheel base; hi racers; low racers; delta trikes; tadpole trikes, tandems, ETC. Some heavy and cumbersome, some light and faster than anything Lance might mount! Bents are SO COOL because they are so varied in their styling, componentry, and purpose. |
Bents are not slow, just different! Once you've trained you legs to use somewhat different muscles, you will blow past your df friends. Lower and more aero is what it is all about, also no foot-strike leaning into corners and more open breathing position. BTW, all the world records for human powered vehicles are on recumbents, with or without fairings, currently 68+ mph.

The current record for speed (at battle mountain)is a touch over 80mph!
It was in a fully faired bent. |
Recumbents have such an advantage in being aero that was one of the reasons the International Cycling Federation outlawed them from competing in sanctioned races.
All because a second rate rider blew the doors off of the worlds best DF rider in a major race... or so the story goes. 'bent Brian |
