Homebuilders
I´m a pretty active home builder Over the last couple of years 2 SWB´s 2 LWB´s a lowracer and an upright Tandem.
Building these things and riding them is about the most fun you can have with your pants on and thanks to the internet there is a whole bunch of information out there, the problem is that it´s spread all over the place. This got me thinking that it would be good to have a site dedicated to homebuilt bikes, their riders, and their stories, especially photos and those amazing discoveries we all make... I know some of you guys have your own sites with your experiences but it would be kind of cool to have a site with a whole bunch of this valuable information.
If any of you guys think this is a good idea post a reply here and maybe we can get something up and running.

homebuild's as a viable avenue of cycling. If it weren't for
homebuild's or tinker's cycling,as well as many other things,
really wouldn't have advanced very far.
It' the tinker's that grow anything past the status quo. They
fuel the markets with both inspiration and idea's for the
next generation of products. So, give a voice and a meeting
place to the tinker's and Homebuilder's here to keep our
sport alive and growing.

I am a homebuilder that has just found and joined this site. I just finished fabrication and welding of a LWB recumbent frame and am now onto the mechanicals. This was my first of many to come recumbents and would like to see a special section devoted to homebuilders. Just after my first frame I have a wealth of information to share, especially welding.

Hi,
I have also just (almost) completed a LWB trike (with 75 speeds and electric assist) and it would have been nice to have a panel to share some ideas and also to profit from other peoples experience. I have the funny feeling that it will not be the last bike / trike I build so it would be great to have some place to go to in the future.

There is a homebuilder forum on bentrideronline.com, which seems to be the most active. There is also a yahoo homebuilder group, but has not been very active for some time. Seems to be seasonal, summer is for riding, winter is for building.

In particular I love how people use unusual things to get around a problem eg: I once used a set of handlebars of a wrecked exercise bike to make underseat steering and I made my own bar end shifters from on old set of suicide shifters and an old aluminium crank.
I will set up a site in the next few days, I know where I can get a free site without advertising.
I will also set up an email account on another site I own dedicated for contributions.
The next order of business is for you guys to come up with a sexy name for the site... Maybe you all could post suggestions over the next couple of days and we can heva a vote or something.
In the mean time I have a couple of pics of the first bent I made hidden on another site...Take a look if you want ... Check out the very sexy quad chainrings on the thing

Hey Guys... You have been a little quiet so I went ahead and set up a bit of a homebuilders site.
Feel free to take a look and if you want to add anything just use the contribute link and email me your stuff.
