"KneeSavers"

These are steel (or ti, if you wanna pay $100) pedal extenders, that move your feet out 20mm from the crankarms. It's supposed to help those that "toe out" (like I do). Just curious if anyone has tried them. Check it out at https://www.bikescor.com/product/knee.htm

I have a pair. They were more than I needed. They are
a last resort. Are you sure you have the right pedal to saddle distance? The bend should be about 15 degrees BDC. More will aggravate problems like this. Do you have soreness? What brought you to consider them.

I'm just trying to anticipate problems before they arrive. I don't know the degrees, but I toe out enough that my track coach (20 years ago) tried to correct it. After running sub-47s in the 400, he said "ok, just run then." Anyway, with my knees straight, my toes are at between one and two o'clock (vice versa for left side). With my Rans Stratus, (platform pedals) there was no problem (except for my own mistake of churning big gears uphills which caused knee pain). But I am buying a Cycle Genius RDX that has clipless pedals (not sure exactly what brand or if it's CG brand). I will try them out and see. I may switch to Shimano M-324 clipless and adjust them to loose to allow for some play (I've received some excellent tips on this website- maybe eventually I can contribute as well, instead of just drawing from it). The KneeSavers can be a last resort as you said. I just like to plan ahead. Can you explain what you meant by "..the bend should be about 15 degrees BDC"?

Hi,
BDC is car talk for Bottom Dead Center. At the bottom of your stroke your leg should still have about 15 degrees of bend. A lot more can cause knee problems for some. The Look CX6 is a clipless pedal that has 10mm of Q adjustment. I am thinking of trying a pair. They are expensive, and I didn't know you recliner guys used clipless. If you do get the Look, make small adjustments, and give each one a couple rides to see how your legs react.

Thanks- I might look into them - or just try what comes with the bike and see how it goes. We're coming out to your area Oct. 2nd, to stay at a B & B, look at the fall colors, and antiques. I'd love to rent a 'bent in the area, but I don't know if those are ever rented out (probably just mountain bikes).

I have seen places (few) rent tandems. Never heard of bent to rent.
Fall foliage comes in a wave. It can be hard to catch even for locals.
You prob know this but look for foliage forecasts; you'll have to head where the peak color is. It may sound obvious, but finding good areas where you don't get sandwiched in with tour buses everywhere you look can be tricky.

A review (positive) of Kneesavers can be found in RTR magazine for June/July.
