Early Tour Easy seat advice
Very pleased to find an affordable Tour Easy over here (UK) and having got it I've a couple of questions for those that know;
It's an early version with a Corbin seat. At my size I need the seat back as far as it will go. At that setting pedal distance is just right. (I guess if I was buying new I'd get the next size up frame.)
It looks as if the seat base is meant to rest on the frame rails and that's how I've set it. Is that correct or is it possible to have seat stays set to raise rear of seat up to make the seat more upright? It looks as if if I did that I'd be stressing the bolts that hold seat plate to frame.
I'm OK with the seat at current angle as I can lean back into seat or sit more upright and keep back off seat, which is probably a good thing on a longer run with a leather seat.
The downside to this set up is that the seat stays extend quite a long way beyond the parts that connect them to the frame at the rear dropouts, which in turn means that I can't get rear wheel out without loosening seat and stays to put the stays forward so that the protruding bit of stay no longer prevents rear mech from moving enough to remove wheel.
Any work arounds or do I need to live with it or shorten seat stay and limit how far forward the seat can be set. Not a problem for me, but in the future it would be less useful for a shorter rider.
Also it currently has a 32mm rear tire which has to be deflated to allow enough forward movement for removal. What's the max tire size that I'll be able to remove / refit rear wheel with tire fully inflated?
With the seat all the way back I can't see how a standard rear rack can fit, are there any extra short rear racks out there which could be made to fit?
Thanks
Andy
