Recumbent What IS that thing?! Recumbents may be odd looking, but they have many advantages over a "wedgie" bicycle. Discuss the in's and out's recumbent lifestyle in the recumbent forum.

Azub 5 question

I am interested in the azub 5 model in that i had a very fun test ride on one at the recumbentcyclecon event yesterday on it. I noticed a pronounced hole (about1-1 1/2 inches) in the frame near the bottom bracket. Do any of you incredibly knowledgeable folks know the reason for this hole? I was thinking it might have something to do with a means of attaching it to a harness for carrying it up steps or such. Thanks for reading, bubba

are your referring to the hole in the frame just forward of the rear suspension pivot? (not anywhere near the BB though)

You are correct, i confused the rear suspension pivot with bb. Now that we are talking about the same hole, any thoughts on its purpose, if any?

It increases torsional stiffness in the mount. But it's just a guess why Azub did it.
