My new Bacchetta Corsa!!

Well guys and girls,

I finally pulled the trigger. I traded in my 2005 Cannondale CAAD9 R5 last weekend for a 2012 Bacchetta Corsa. I absolutely LOVE IT! Hoping to get some pics soon and post them, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all the folks here in the forum. I've read so much and gleaned a wealth of information from the folks here. I can't wait to really get her out on the open road and show her around to my favorite rides and friends, and I hope to repay the information I took from this forum in the future.

One question to you guys - can anyone point me in the direction of aftermarket parts websites for these incredible machines? I'm looking right now for replacements for the pins that keep the back supports up and maybe a new idler pulley, plus I kind of just want to see what's out there. LBS said it was a fine stock pulley but an aftermarket one at some point would probably be smart at some point. More importantly, I guess, he told me to make sure it was tightened properly before each ride!

Thanks in advance, fellow 'Bent riders!! I'll proudly represent the 'Bent family and help to dispell the myths surrounding these awesome machines...

-Tim

TerraCycle makes idlers & stuff. I think you might be interested in the seat strut clamps.

PS - There's nothing wrong with the stock Bacchetta plastic idler (pulley). I have one on my non-Bacchetta recumbent. The plastic idler is quiet, very durable, and I'm not convinced you will gain much efficiency from a metal-toothed idler.

Thanks guys! And Recumbomatic - I agree - I'll stick with the stock idler for now. Priorities more around a wider handlebar and a set of Velogenesis Seat Stays for now...

both available at the Bacchetta web store.
I'd check the idler and make sure it spins really well. Otherwise, replace the bearings. I replace them every few years. Should be able to pick up some race level skate bearings at a local stake board shop.

You're gonna want narrow bars after you get some miles on the bike. Make sure you keep them.

Love my Corsa.

First "upgrade" should be wheels and tires, just so you know :-)

Concerning the wider handlebar, you might just want to ride with the narrow one and see if you can get used to it. My Giro 20 has Bacchetta's wide bar and it is really wide. Narrow bridges on MUPs can be a bit tight when the trail is crowded. I have the narrow bar on my Strada and it is much easier to deal with, makes the bike look more svelte also. I've just ordered a narrow one for my Giro. BTW, I'm a big guy, 6'2" 240 lbs, and I can ride the narrow bar just fine, took about 40 miles to get used to it.

Congrats, when I get down in weight and all my money isn't going to Lubbock, I'll be looking for a bent and fixing up my trike.
