Oregon Human Power Challenge 2013

If you weren't in Portland this last weekend for the annual recumbent races/get-together... you were somewhere else!

The race results are still being compiled. Here's a couple collections of photos:

I love that stuff.

One of the things that I like most about recumbents is the willingness of users to tinker with their machines. Some of those, maybe a lot of them, aren't serious racing machines. They are simply the creations of people who enjoy tinkering.

I'm greatly impressed by the workmanship in several of the machines too. All-to-often my mind has a picture that my hands can't produce.

I wish that I could have been there.

Yep, that's an aspect I like about HPV racing, too. People come out to try their own ideas, not just to burn each other's legs off. There was about a 3-to-1 ratio in the speed of the tandem racers... that is, John & Margaret (below) were about 3 times as fast as Gary and Judy Dinsmore (bottom). Everyone had fun.
