Bike E CT tune up

Bike E CT tune up
My wife is asking me to get her old Bike E CT rideable again. Tires look good but the chain is rusted. I figured I might as well do a full tune-up and replace the cables. The rear der cable appears long-ish, the chain definitely is. Are standard shift cables long enough and do I just join two chains with a couple of powerlinks or is there a source for recumbent specific bike parts? Thanks.

I just join chains together with Quik-Links and cut the last chain to end up with the right length. Hostelshoppe, I think, sells recumbent-length chains but it's cheaper to use regular chains, if you can find them on sale. I *always* buy tandem-length cables, that way they're always long enough.
