And lastly my Actionbent Litespeed (I think) as pictured by the previous owner. I had to shorten the boom quite a bit and remove quite a few links of chain. He was TALL. Also pictured is my newest project- Giro 26 steel frame- 2007 or 8 model. OK..I'm done for now till I take some pics of them out on rides. All of these recumbents I've picked up this year. So far I don't want to get rid of any of them. They are a tremendous training tool as they seemingly use more of your leg muscles and glutes! I get faster and faster on my diamond frame bikes just by riding my bents more. They really get you in shape and improve your balance. I'd recommend supplementing bent riding for any roadie or mountain biker. They make you strong fast.

That Vision looks like it's missing an idler?

Nope, there are fancier versions of Vision R40 with complicated idler setups, but I own three Vision R40s, they have have the same setup as pictured... no need for extra weight.

The hard shell seat is not a Vision item, but works with headrest, better setup for me over the OEM mesh seat.

First winter project completed: New rear wheel for my Baron. 135mm non-disc hub, Velocity Fusion 650c rim, fabric spoke covers (200g vs 500g for an Aerojacket.)

Nice, what do your power requirements look like on that for certain speeds on flat terrain?

BlazingPedals 01-05-17 10:03 AM

Beats me. I don't have a power meter. Besides, it's 13F outside right now. I know that since getting it I've gone from a middle-of-the-pack 'B' rider in my club to being at the front of the 'A' pack.

Funny story of my first club rid with the Baron:
I got it used, and for the first ride only 3 gears worked and it was very hard to shift at all. The group was coming up on the 'turnaround' town and 4-5 guys made a break for the traditional sign sprint. Not being a sprinter, I was at my accustomed spot at the rear; and as they quickly rode off the front, the woman I'd been talking to egged me on to give the sprint a try. I reluctantly agreed, but since everyone had gotten a good head start, I figured there wasn't much point.

Well, I hit the front of the main group doing 30 mph and still accelerating. According to the woman responsible for all this, as she watched she thought, "He'll never do it... but maybe... DAMN!!!" Just as all the sprinters put their tails in the air and started sprinting for all they were worth, I sailed past them so decisively that they all sat down and coasted the rest of the way to the city limit sign.

I see pic on two separate devices.

That's quite a combination. It has an Optima seat and Schlitter bars.

is the back of it for aerodynamics or does it open like panniers for touring? Very comfortable look..
